Evaluation – Double Paged Spread
I think that my finished product does what its intended to do. It has many of the features that the popular magazine ‘ Ride BMX ‘ has, including big sharp images, small questionnaires, and just keeping the page simple. There is a questionnaire with a BMX rider, this informs people, because the question are about his life, which could be useful and interesting for the audience ( fans ? ).
This magazine is mainly aimed at teenagers to early 30’s. I think I’ve reached my audience because in the spread I used things that would be relevant to this age group. I included a prize to win some DC shoes, which all BMXers love. I also included ‘ Greg’s Top Ten Tunezz ‘, even though many different people like different genres, the majority of BMXers like rock/rap/indie, or branches from these genres, e/g instead of listening to rap, they might also like rap rock, or hip hop. However In this page spread I used the genre rock.
The size of my product is 224x229mm, this size is the standard size of the average magazine, like Mojo. I chose this size because I wanted to keep things simple.
Like I mentioned, I planned to keep it very simple. I related to other products similar to mine, like ‘ride bmx’ and ’MBUK‘. In these magazines I noticed that the font, and size of the font is fairly simple, they either used times new roman, or Arial, in a size 12 font.
My use of columns are fairly complex, I didn’t use illustrator to create any of my products, I have always used Photoshop and I have had a bit of experience using the program. Basically what I did was I put equal columns wherever I wanted the text, titles, and pictures to go, and I can tell from the end result that it was successful.
